Arsenal’s hopes of signing Nico Williams could be dealt a huge blow as the winger is reportedly considering a lifelong contract with Athletic Club.

This leaves the Gunners in desperate need of a new wide man, with several links to numerous different players already surfacing.

The Spaniard registered his tenth league goal contribution of the season on Sunday evening, spectacularly firing past Augusto Batalla in the Ray Vallecano net at the Estadio de San Mames.

The strike set the Basque side on their way to victory, with Ernesto Valverde’s team ultimately easing past Vallecano 3-1, cementing their place in the top four.

Completing three dribbles per 90 minutes, he’d certainly add a chaos factor to an Arsenal attack that is often predictable and sterile.

However, Williams’ isn’t yet particularly effective at turning his dribbling into particularly valuable moments inside the opposition box, as shown by his disappointing underlying numbers.

The raw ingredients are there, but anyone expecting the player to come straight into the Gunners’ side and be excellent immediately doesn’t have an accurate view of what he is as a player.
