BREAKING NEWS: OFFICIAL, Vigil Van Dijk signs new deal at Liverpool until June 2027, agreement sealed and confirmed.

He’s staying at the club despite important proposals on the table from top European clubs. The ‘Dutch King’ that is Van dijk is staying at Anfield!

“I think first, all the focus should be going to the Hillsborough anniversary,” says Van Dijk. “I think that’s the main thing and then we’ll see. The focus will still be on Leicester, but maybe there’s some news. I know … but I don’t know.”

And the broad smile on his face tells you everything. Van Dijk is delighted to be staying at Anfield until at least the summer of 2027 – and probably for longer. And he is happy to explain why he is staying at the club and why there was clearly no chance of him being tempted by a move to somewhere else, even though the negotiations over a fresh agreement have gone to this late stage.

He explains: “I love the club, that’s pretty obvious. I think you can see that in the way I speak about the club, the way I work for the club in terms of what I do on the pitch on and off the pitch, and that will always be the same.

“I think it’s the whole combination. I joined the club in 2017 for many reasons. Reasons like how much it means to all the Scousers, to all the fans around the whole world how to be connected to Liverpool.

“Being successful with Liverpool, the culture of the club, everything that embodies Liverpool … that is just part of me. That’s why I’m always proud when I wear that shirt, go out there and try to be the best version of myself in terms of the football player that I am.”

Liverpool looks set for a very active summer transfer window, with new head coach Arne Slot planning a major overhaul of the squad. One of the key areas expected to see changes in the attack, especially as both Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz continue to be linked with possible exits from Anfield.

After recently locking in Mohamed Salah with a new deal, the Reds are now turning their attention to adding more attacking depth. According to reports, Eintracht Frankfurt’s young forward Hugo Ekitike is already on Liverpool’s radar. Now, another name has joined their shortlist—Kaoru Mitoma, the exciting Brighton & Hove Albion winger.

Mitoma has scored 17 goals in 83 Premier League appearances, making him one of the more reliable wide attackers in the league. Teamtalk claims that Liverpool are seriously considering a move for the Japanese international this summer.

Brighton is reportedly open to selling Mitoma, but they’ve set a hefty asking price—£80 million. That could be a sticking point for Liverpool, who are known for being strategic and measured in their spending. While Mitoma would bring speed and creativity to the wings, the club might have to offload a current star like Díaz to justify the move.

Mitoma is capable of playing on either flank but would likely be used on the right wing if he joins Liverpool, offering more options alongside Salah. With such a high valuation, the Reds might explore alternatives to bring the price down, such as including a player in the deal.

Given Mitoma’s growing importance at Brighton, it’s no surprise the Seagulls want top dollar. Whether Liverpool will meet that demand or shift focus to other targets remains to be seen.

Several top Premier League clubs — including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United — are reportedly very interested in signing Hugo Ekitike, a young forward who is currently performing at the highest level of his career. His recent form has caught the attention of many clubs looking to strengthen their attacking lineups.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Ekitike’s current club, hopes to profit massively from his potential transfer. They aim to break their own transfer record, which was set in 2023 when Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) bought Randal Kolo Muani for €95 million. If Ekitike is sold for more than that, it would mark a historic deal for Frankfurt.

With the summer transfer window getting closer, many clubs are planning new signings, especially in attack. Ekitike is expected to be one of the most talked-about names in the market. This follows Frankfurt’s recent decision to sell Omar Marmoush to Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola. If they sell Ekitike too, it would mean the club is letting go of yet another key player in their frontline.

One of the clubs most strongly linked with Ekitike is Liverpool. Reports suggest that the club sees him as a possible replacement for Darwin Núñez, whose future at Anfield has been uncertain. Given the financial strength of Premier League teams, Frankfurt has set a high asking price, expecting competitive bids from England.

While all four clubs mentioned need a quality striker, Arsenal appears ready to spend significantly to bring in a top forward, making them strong contenders in the race to sign Ekitike.

At the same time, Liverpool is also said to be targeting two defenders from another Premier League team, showing that the club is working on multiple fronts to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Referencing Alexander-Arnold, Ornstein confirmed: “It’s a different situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold. The expectation is that he will leave for Real Madrid as a free agent at the end of the season.

“Perhaps some criticism for Liverpool, for FSG on that front, for them leaving it late on a younger player who has come through the system to Liverpool at Anfield.”

David Ornstein’s comments follow fresh on from the information provided to our transfer insider Fraser Fletcher, who has revealed the Reds are preparing for what sources described to him as a historic summer transfer window with Arne Slot to put his mark down on the squad.

Darren Fletcher also was first to break the news of Liverpool’s interest in Milos Kerkez way back in September, while he has also been informed that the Reds have held discussions with the agent of Huijsen as they attempt to win a crowded race for the Spain defender’s signing.

He is Aided by a £50m exit clause in his Bournemouth deal, Fletcher has confirmed that the Reds are joined by Real Madrid, Chelsea, Newcastle.
